Our computer simulation work calls for a combined total in the 216 ballpark when the Pelicans host the Thunder this afternoon.
Betting trends supoprt our view, as OKC sports an overall O/U record of 24-32, while the OVER is 26-28-2 when New Orleans takes the floor. Thus, on any given night, the UNDER is somewhat more likely to cash in than the OVER when either the Thunder of the Pelicans see action.
Additionally, the UNDER has collected six times of the nine instances this season when Oklahoma City plays without a night off (the Thunder beat the Mavs at Dallas last night). OKC's victory Wednesday is also problematic for OVER backers for a different reason: the UNDER 25-15 following a Thunder victory.
Further, the UNDER for Durant, Westbrook and company is 29-22-1 when OKC is installed as the Las Vegas favorite.
The Pelicans O/U record is a striking 11-23-2 when New Orleans is cast as the underdog.
And finally, both teams tend toward the UNDER in non-division affairs such as tonight's matchup. New Orleans is 20-23-1 playing non-Southwest Division foes, while OKC is 20-25-1 when competing outside of their Northwest Division.
Bottom line: Betting trends, in addition to indications from our simulation work, offer substantial support for the UNDER. We are wagering accordingly.
